
(BEIJING, September 13) -- A 3,000-plus audience, including people with disabilities, met at the Olympic Cultural Square in the Beijing International Sculpture Park and enjoyed watching the "Heaven, Earth, People and Love" Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games cultural performances early on September 13. BOCOG president Liu Qi and BOCOG executive president Guo Jinlong were among the audience watching the performances.
A key activity of the Sixth Beijing 2008 Olympic Cultural Festival, the "Heaven, Earth, People and Love" Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games cultural performances is designed to provide a stage on which to publicize the core ideas of the Beijing Paralympic Games; showcase the development of China's endeavors for people with disabilities; and display the spirit of self-sufficiency and higher striving in people with a disability in China.

During the Paralympic Games, the city of Beijing organized the "Merry Paralympic Games" to invite people with disabilities to participate in colorful activities outside their homes, helping them experience the Paralympic Games and enjoy it as a grand festival for themselves. It is an occasion to call on the whole society to respect, care for, and assist people who may have a disability.
At today's show, a total of 28 artistic pieces were performed. More than 100 performers from the Beijing Disabled Persons' Artistic Troupe put on 6 excellent pieces, which won thunderous applause from the audience.
