Founded in 1999, Chaozhou Experimental School is equipped with advanced teaching facilities, including a 200-meter round plastic racetrack, a plastic basket-ball field, a badminton field and an indoor swimming pool.
There are more than 2,700 students at school, arranged in 40 classes. In 2003, the school team took part in the Game of Secondary and Primary School Students in Guangdong Province and won the champion of the primary school group. The school aims to build a fine Olympic atmosphere among teachers and students by launching a great deal of Olympic activities, which embodies the Olympic slogan of Higher, Faster and Stronger.
The school started diverse activities on Olympic education. After widely collecting information on the Olympic Games, the school has edited some books for teachers who gave many Olympic lectures to students. "Sports Festival" is held every year, and Special Sports competition held every month. In order to strengthen after-class physical training, the school has set up more than 20 sport groups, which cover sports events as track and field, table tennis, taekwondo,chess, and model planes.
The school emphasizes the important role of Olympic Spirit in moral teaching. All the teachers are required to promote Olympic Spirit among students according to their teaching progress.
In the past 8 years of hands-in-hands helping program with the Shi Nationality Primary School of Li Gong Keng village in Wenchi Town, Chaozhou Experimental School encourages students to spread Olympic information among the Shi students, in the meantime, calling on teachers to exchange views concerning PE teaching with the Shi teachers, with teaching materials worth 40,000 Yuan donated.
During the time of Beijing's bidding for host of Olympic Games, PE teachers assisted local newspaper in publishing a special issue with the headline of "How much you know about the Olympics". It is of great value in the spread of Olympic culture and the promotion of Olympic Spirit among local citizens.
