(BEIJING, July 28) - On Monday, under the watchful guard of armed police, 3,000 Beijing Paralympic medals were delivered safely from Shanghai to Beijing.

With 40 days to go before the Paralympic Games, the designers, Beijing Arts and Crafts Group, were anxious to show off the medals, created after days and nights of brainstorming to ensure their authenticity and value.

All Olympic and Paralympic medals are gold inlaid with jade, but there are slight design differences between the two. Olympic medals have their jade parts showing on the back, while Paralympic medals have their jade parts showing on the front.
