Updated:2008-07-06

(BEIJING, July 6) -- All 1,200 buses to be used in shuttling athletes, officials and accredited journalists during the Games will arrive at the Olympic and Paralympic Village on July 6, reported Xinhua news agency.

The buses meet several requirements set by Beijing Public Transport Holdings, Ltd's: They will not breakdown on the road; they will not have mechanical problems; and they will not need repair at engine startup.

The buses will be inspected at least three times every day: when parked, at the end of the day and after each completed route.

Purchased brand-new in or after 2006, the buses all measure 12 meters long and have low floors, barrier-free features and air conditioning. They all meet Euro IV emission standards.
