ALLOCATION OF QUALIFICATION |
The qualification is allocated to the NPC not the individual athlete or team. Qualification slots will only be granted to an NPC if the athlete(s) attaining the qualifying performance is eligible to compete for the respective NPC at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. |
| MAXIMUM QUOTA ALLOCATION PER NPC |
An NPC can be allocated no more than one (1) qualification slot per event for
a maximum quota allocation of three (3) qualification slots per NPC. The maximum
qualification slots to be allocated per event is as follows: fourteen (14) for the Single-Person Keelboat; twelve (12) for the Two-Person Keelboat; and fourteen (14) for the Three-Person Keelboat. In the case that qualification slots are not confirmed for usage by 4 April 2008 the IFDS may redistribute any unused qualification slots among the two other events. |
| ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY |
To be eligible for selection by an NPC, all athletes must have competed in an
official International Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) sanctioned
competition between 1 January 2005 and 6 July 2008. No athlete may change his/her nationality to sail for another country after 6 September 2007. |
| MAXIMUM ENTRY PER NPC |
An NPC that qualifies can enter a maximum of one (1) boat per event and may
select a maximum of one (1) athlete for the Single-Person Keelboat event; two (2) athletes (of which one minimum must be a female athlete) for the Two-Person Keelboat event; and three (3) athletes for the Three-Person Keelboat event. |

2007 IFDS DISABLED SAILING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ALLOCATION |
Single-Person Keelboat The six (6) top ranked NPCs, not otherwise qualified, qualify (one boat per NPC) Two-Person Keelboat The six (6) top ranked NPCs qualify (one boat per NPC) Three-Person Keelboat The six (6) top ranked NPCs qualify (one boat per NPC) In the case that a 2007 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships is not held or the required number of races are not completed (in accordance with IFDS rules) then the qualification slots attributed to the competition will be retroactively redistributed to the 2006 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships Allocation method and allocated through the results of the corresponding event. In the case that both the 2006 and 2007 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships are not held or the required number of races are not completed (in accordance with IFDS rules) then the qualification slots attributed to these competitions will be allocated based on a discretionary policy approved by the IPC. |

DATES / PROCESS OF CONFIRMATION OF QUALIFICATION SLOTS
By 4 April 2008, each NPC must confirm in writing (fax and e-mails are accepted) to IFDS the number of qualification slots they will use. NPCs that have not replied by this date will have lost their qualification slots, and IFDS may reallocate these slots.
By 25 April 2008, IFDS will confirm the redistribution of any unused qualification slots to other events and their reallocation.
By 26 April 2008, it is officially declared that the respective NPCs will use the allocated quota granted for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Any NPC that does not use some or all of the qualification slots allocated may be subject to sanctions by the IPC and IFDS.
REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUALIFICATION SLOTS
At the discretion of the IFDS, qualification slots not used by an NPC may be redistributed to other events and reallocated according to the methods below:
2006, 2007 and 2008 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships Allocations
Slots allocated through the 2006, 2007 and 2008 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships allocation methods will be reallocated, following a redistribution to a different event (if applicable), to the next highest ranked and not otherwise qualified NPC in the respective competition.
Host Country Allocation
Slots allocated through the Host Country allocation method will be reallocated, following redistribution to a different event (if applicable), to the next highest ranked and not otherwise qualified NPC in the 2007 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships.
Should it not be possible to reallocate the unused qualification slots in either of the above methods, they will be reallocated, at the discretion of IFDS upon approval by the IPC.
