Hockey and archery venues representative of 'High-tech Olympics'

Updated:2008-05-08

(BEIJING, August 12) -- The concept of a "high-tech Olympics" is evident in the design and construction of the Olympic Green Hockey Field and Archery Field. New materials and new technology were fully employed, thereby speeding up construction time, and ensuring Olympic-quality construction.

The venues also feature single-component polyurethane from Germany's Bayer, used to waterproof the venues' indoors, stainless steel base plates, and fireproof boards.

The steel structure of the hockey field has even garnered the Beijing Great Wall Cup award for construction. Additionally, the hockey field uses a man-made, internationally recognized Australian brand turf that has three major characteristics: levelness, water-preservation, and water infiltration.
